Koryu Bokken

Dear visitors,

We at KoryuBokken like to introduce our vision and our staff. Finding good buki for the practice of koryu is often difficult. For this, KoryuBokken teamed up with Pero Antunovic in Croatia, who makes these weapons for us excusively. For Japanese white oak bokken we have a supplier that can offer standard commercially available bokken for Koryu practise.

Sohei Trading

Sohei Trading imports and exports all kinds of Japanese cultural goods. Sohei manages diferent websites for different parts of japanese culture, such as budo, kimono, musical instruments, furniture etc. KoryuBokken is a part of Sohei trading.

Sohei started from the efforts of Marcel and Arjan. In every day life they own and run a design and engineering company for the metal- and machinebuilding industry. They have been doing so full time for the past 5 years. Although business in technology is doing well, their personal interests pushed them to start something totally different and refreshing: Sohei Trading.

Arjan

Arjan has been training japanese budo since the age of 8. Starting in judo, jujutsu, karate, a Takamatsu-den derivative, and finally setteling in Aikido and Koryu Budo for the last 7 years.

Arjan takes care of our Japanese contacts and occupies himself with product development.

Marcel

Marcel has no budo-training what-so-ever, which makes him a (maybe the most) valuable asset to our company. Critically questioning our preconceived idea's of Japanese culture and requiring all statements to be founded in facts before he can agree.

Marcel takes care of product development, logistics and strategic planning.

Pero

Pero Antunovic has been making wooden weapons since he was 8, although not bokken or other japanese buki, but play mock weapons and so forth.

Pero is working full time as a carpenter and spends most of his time working on Japanese buki and western waisters. He has lots of experience we can draw from and is an incurable workoholic and perfectionist.

Sophie

Sophie is our photographer and a (retired, soon to be returning to full practise....or not?) Koryu practitioner. Sophie is self-employed as a journalist and photografer. For more of her work click here...

Bartosz

Bartosz is the systems-architect for both our engineering company as the websites for Sohei trading. Bartosz occasionally advises us on product development and helps assess our prototypes. Before starting Koryu Budo some 5 years ago, he also studied Aikido.
